ONENESS合一

Mix Reality Game, 2024

The psychological phenomenon of "dissociation" serves as a passive coping mechanism for stress and anxiety. The Mixed Reality game I developed employs unique interactions and virtual elements to visualise dissociation. The aim is to enhance the audience's understanding of this concept and its prevalence in everyday life, given its critical importance to mental health. Moreover, this MR programme offers players a novel perspective on the interplay between consciousness, body, and real world. In its development, the project also developed some new features for XR headset such as real-time depth masking and pure hand and body tracking to explore the interactive and visual potential of virtual and real objects.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Trying to maximise MR immersion from a technical point of view by:
  • Quest 3 headset and Unity
  • APK file, no need to connect any cable to PC.
  • All interactions are fully based on hand tracking for enhanced immersion.
  • Create collisions for the hand and the player’s entire body.
  • Developed real-time spatial depth calculation.(Can recognise the depth of the whole space in real-time to create occlusion effects).
  • Stable runing as 72-80 fps above 3000 resolution through optimising the model’s triangle count and adjusting the rendering settings.

ONENESS was selected as a finalist for the Lumen Prize 2024 (13th edition) Interactive Immersive Award. https://www.lumenprize.com/interactive-immersive-award-finalists-2024/jiaqi-yang
